Episode 2 Family

Family is a tricky business. As our Heartstopper gang starts to learn in this episode. They also start to learn the difference between blood and chosen family. As the great Bobby Singer said ‘Family don’t end with blood, boy.’

Episode 2 was quite powerful. And traumatic.

Nice to see that Parent/Teacher conferences suck just as much in England as they do in the US. What an absolute torture these meetings can be. For both student and parent. poor Charlie.

If you study, tho - you can have a bit of a less experience like Nick. Way to Nick! Also, OLIVIA COLEMAN!!!!!!!!!

As much as Charlie’s mum annoys the hell out of me, she’s not wrong here. Blaming all the time Charlie spends on Nick for his poor grades is a fair and factual assumption.

Charlie, my sweet boy, if you’d put half as much time and effort into your course work as you do the drums and Nick, you wouldn’t be failing. And you wouldn’t have gotten grounded. You gotta do the hard stuff first, man. Then the fun stuff.

I love the addition of Sahar, this season. She’s so funny and sassy. Exactly what was missing from this otherwise excellent friend group.

I also love the addition of Farouk. He is the perfect Yang to Ajayi’s Ying.

Okay, I can’t stand stalker Ben, but he is not completely off base here. Telling Nick that he is the same as Ben is going too far. However, Nick’s actions are the same. By asking Charlie to hide their relationship and to lie to his friends, he is putting Charlie in the same spot Ben did. The reasons are different, but the effect is the same.

Nick’s reaction says that he knows that Ben is not wrong.

I love this moment in the park between Charlie, Nick, and Nellie. It is so sweet and relaxed.

I love a happy Charlie. Also, I want rainbow swirls to follow my gay self around!!

Nick freaking out in his Maths exam is so relatable. I am also a hater of Maths. I have been since I was 8 years old. Thanks for that, Mrs. Diddle!

Charlie! Not a fan of Marvel movies? Oh my sweet boy! We need to work on your taste in movies.

Nick’s right, David is gross! It’s amazing how Sarah is such a sweet and wonderful mom but only Nick turned out like her.

This is such a sucky place to be, mentally. I do know, personally. Poor Charlie. I really wish he would talk to someone.

I love this moment between Tao and his mom. I love Tao’s mom! She’s so great!

The panic on Isaac and Charlie’s faces, when Tao tells them about his feelings for Elle, is hilarious. Good thing they recover quickly.

See ya next time for Episode 3 - Promise.
