Episode 2 A Door Into The Dark

This episode is all about doors.

Jace escapes through a door and saves Valentine in the process. Alec closes a door on Clary… for now. Izzy shows that no door will stand in her way. Clary walks out the door…and pays a price. Magnus leads Simon through a door and helps him find himself. Alec walks through a door he shouldn’t have… and loses himself along the way.

“You set me up to kill that vampire.”

Jace! If you knew that, why the hell did you save him?!

Also, YOU”RE NOT JONATHAN!!!!!!!

“The law is hard but it is the law.”

Come on, Jace! You hate that excuse as much as I do. I am glad that you are standing up to Valentine. But quoting the most ridiculous sayings from The Clave is not a good look on you, my warrior.

I have come to the conclusion that we all need a Simon Lewis in our lives. This guy is the best friend you could have. He will go to bat for you against anyone. No matter who they are.

“Since you’ve arrived, you’ve caused nothing but problems. My family lost their birthright. Izzy was almost deruned. And, now, Valentine has my Parabatai. And it’s all because of you.”

That look on Clary’s face makes me feel bad for her. At the same time, Alec is not wrong. If Clary had jut listened to Alec, clear back at the beginning of the first season, most of this would not have happened.

Izzy, my goddess, I’m sorry but I am with Alec on this one. Every word he said is spot on.

Clary, my little firecracker, I do feel bad for you. But you have wanted to do things your way. So, wish granted, I guess.

Alec - And Jace. That’s how we get to him before they try and kill him.

I love Alec and Izzy plotting to use the Clave’s investigation to find Jace first.

Let me be clear - I know I am hard on Clary. But I don’t hate her. I love Clary. I do think she is young and inconsiderate and a bit selfish. She is better than she was in the first season, but there are still moments.

I know she got dropped into this world that she knew nothing about. But she entered it with the strongest family of that world. Instead of respecting that - and them - and allowing them to teach her, she was insistent on everyone doing things her way. That attitude caused so much damage for the Lightwoods, particularly Alec.

I do feel so bad for her when Alec refuses to let her help him and Izzy. She does have a good heart. She just needs to remember to think of others.

Izzy fighting that wrestling guy is epic. The way Alec comes to her defense and Izzy’s like ‘I got this.’ and then shows that dude that she is more than just a pretty face. Gods, it’s so damn good!

And Alec’s reaction is hilarious. It’s definitely one of my favorite scenes.

I love Magnus and Simon scenes. They’re so funny together. And Harry and Alberto make excellent scene partners.

They’re like two sarcastic siblings but the younger one can’t quite match the older ones wit.

No matter how hard he tries.

Clary! Why are you at the art school? This is not safe and I am wondering if you have learned anything at all.

I do love how peaceful Clary looks here, though. She needs to find a balance between being an artist and being a Shadowhunter.

Simon - Because why would you need a powerful Warlock, when you’re a scrappy nerd from Brooklyn.

I love Magnus and Simon in India. It’s another one of my favorite moments.

Magnus - You’re a vampire, Simon You’re tougher than you think. Honestly, it’s time to man up.

The banter - Simon’s one-liners and Magnus’ tough love - it’s so funny. And Harry and Alberto are perfect comedy partners. They play off of each other so well.

“I don’t feel anything, Izzy. That’s what scares me.”

Ugh, Alec! My love, it’s going to be okay.

Magnus going through Camille’s stuff and taking back what’s his is so fun. But his running commentary makes it even better.

Until he finds this. Then I just want to hug him.

Simon being so proud of himself for encantoing the snake is so adorable. I love how excited he is.

And Magnus being proud of him just makes the moment that much more adorable. Seriously, I could watch these two all day.

Alec! I get that you and Jace have this magical bond. And I love it! But I don’t like this method of tracking him. Jocelyn already tried to kill him but you’re going to trust her and her magical Parabatai rock?!

Magnus, my love! You’re so pure and good. Even hiding behind that sarcasm and centuries of armor, that goodness in you shines so bright.

Simon - So, you’re going to be, like, my Downworld sponsor?

Magnus - Let’s not get carried away.

Simon - No..

Magnus - I said I’ll try. Even though I’ve lived more centuries than I’d like to admit, it doesn’t mean I’m patient.

🤣🤣🤣🤣

These interspersed scenes of Jace sensing Alec and Alec sensing Jace are so intense. I am not an emotional person, but this gets me every time.

And then, when Alec fades… OMG! Too much!
