Episode 5 Heat

Heat means a lot of different things. And this episode covers all of them.

Episode 5 finds us still in Paris with the gang. Let’s see what they are up to.

Charlie and Nick’s reaction to the hickey is hilarious. The panic those poor kids go through, tho. It would be heartbreaking if Tao didn’t show up when he does.

These looks on their faces are so precious. Nick knows that Tao would kill him if he could.

Tao going full on “Dad’ mode is one of my favorite season 2 moments.

At this point in the series, I am in two minds about Nick. As someone who took decades to come out, partially - and then another ten to come out, fully - I get his fear. And he shouldn’t come out before he’s ready. At the same time, I have been someone’s secret, so I get what it is doing to Charlie to - essentially - be shoved back into the closet. It’s not fair to Charlie and I feel so bad for him. And I am irritated that Nick is letting Charlie take all the shit for that hickey. Even without confessing, he could still defend his ‘friend'.’

Isaac telling Harry off is fabulous! And I hate that his friends never find out that he did this.

I just love this moment of them on the Eiffel Tower. I love their surprise that Harry sticks up for them. Nick’s ‘weird’ makes me chuckle every time. And I love that they take a selfie for Sarah (OLIVIA COLEMAN!).

Tao’s confession is both sweet and heartbreaking. He should have known that Charlie would not be angry. I think it’s impossible for Charlie to hate anyone.

Crossing my fandoms here, but - in my head - somewhere on this bridge is a lock that says ‘Aku Cinta Kamu’.

Quiz time for the Diehards - Do y’all know why this piece catches Elle’s eye and makes her stop and smile like that? I know what I think it is. Drop your ideas or thoughts in the comments.

I love this moment between Nick and Elle as they look at the painting on the ceiling. And the conversation they have -

Elle - You don’t always need to understand it to enjoy it.

Nick - This one feels kind of romantic.

Elle - Yeah.

Nick - Guess that’s true of real life, as well.

Elle - What?

Nick - Like… You don’t have to understand your feelings, completely, to know you like something. You don’t have to always have figured everything out. You can just… feel.

Nick, my guy, you are a wise teenage boy.

Charlie passing out was scary. But it’s fascinating how they show that by making his ‘view’ go all white and blurry like this.

And Nick catching him, as he goes down, is so sweet. And terrifying.

Ajayi and Farouk continue to be as cute as our gang!

I love that Isaac and Imogen are the ones that took off to get Ajayi and Farouk after Charlie goes down.

I love that the group are just chilling on the floor with Charlie, as if it’s just an everyday occurrence. I think this helped Charlie not feel quite as embarrassed as he could have.

That’s a wrap on episode 5. See ya next time for Truth/Dare. It’s an important one so keep an eye out.
