Episode 3 Parabatai Lost

But it’s not just the Parabatai that are lost.

Alec is lost, mentally. Trapped somewhere between his bond with Jace and his own consciousness.

Jace is lost physically. Trapped in a cat and mouse game with Luke’s werewolf pack.

Magnus is lost, emotionally. Trapped between wanting to save Alec and knowing this is one magic trick he can’t perform.

Izzy is lost, spiritually. Trapped between risking her brothers life and making a deal with the devil.

The flashback of Young Alec and Young Jace and their first meeting is so adorable.

I also love how, as kids, Alec is shown as being smaller than Jace - even though he’s older. Then, when they are older, Alec is the taller of the two.

Izzy! Don’t yell at Magnus. He’s doing all he can given the limited access he has to what he needs because you’re all stuck at the Institute. Magnus loves Alec, too. Even if he hasn’t said it, yet.

I love how Clary comes storming in, demanding to see Izzy, telling off Raj and Jocelyn, and lying to Aldertree. Now this is a terrifying Clary. And this is the moment I went from liking Clary okay to loving the hell out of her.

Magnus - You were only trying to do what you always do. Manipulate people into helping you fix problems that you created. And now Alec is paying the price for it.

YOU TELL HER MAGNUS!!

Magnus telling off Jocelyn is one of my very favorite moments of the series.

Jace, my warrior, this is what happens when you let a man you know is walking evil get inside your head. You made a stupid decision and now Alec could die because you can’t get to him.

Aldertree! Pissing off Magnus was a bad idea!

He’s not just a powerful Warlock. He is the most powerful Warlock and he is in love with someone who currently knocks at deaths door. My advice - Leave him be and let him do what he needs to do.

Yeah, this is the face of a powerful warlock who has had absolutely enough of narcissistic Shadowhunters trying to tell him what to do and prevent him from saving Alec.

Let me tell you, I shout with joy at this scene every time! Because, Raj, you’re an asshat and you deserve every single second of what Magnus does to you!

Jace, now would be a good time to use those Shadowhunter Strength, Iratze, and Stamina Runes and get the hell out of there.

Luke! Why the hell did you bring her? Maia is the reason that Jace is in the hospital in the first place! What happened to wanting to get the full story before just deciding to kill the boy!?

The fact that everyone is willing to believe the absolute worst of Jace with no proof whatsoever! No one is giving this guy a chance to tell his side! And it irritates my soul!

Jocelyn, you have a lot of nerve. You tried to kill Jace with an arrow. Now you want him to trust you?! Even worse, he thinks that his mother tried to kill him. Fuck off with that bullshit. I wouldn’t trust you either!

Jace - Well, I guess we both drew the short straw. Life lesson, don’t fall in love with the devil, right?

Ugh! Poor Jace. Also, SHE”S NOT YOUR REAL MOM!

Izzy! I understand why you’re working with Aldertree. We need him so Alec can live. But I HATE this deal!! Like really, truly hate this deal!

Magnus pleading with Alec to come back is so heartbreaking. I feel it in my soul. Harry Shum Jr is so fucking spectacular!

I cannot explain how much I wish that this kiss would have worked to bring Alec back. I know this story is about Alec and Jace, not Alec and Magnus, but that would have been so epic. Hey, a Queer can dream, right?

I love this scene between Teen Alec and Teen Izzy. It’s sweet, it’s funny, it’s so Alec and Izzy!

She has always been supportive of Alec. Has always tried to let him know that she knows he’s gay and it’s okay. And I love how she’s always been able to talk sense into him.

Jace pleading with Maia to let him get to Alec so he doesn’t die, is so powerful. I just love Dom and this scene is an excellent example as to why.

Maia?! Seriously?! Get a grip! These wolves are so unreasonable!

Yeah, Yeah, I know…

I love Izzy showing up just in time to save Jace.

And I love this shot of Emeraude!! Goddess!

It’s about fucking time, Luke!!

This moment between Magnus and Jace - when Magnus hands the Parabatai stone to Jace, their clasped hands, the look they share - it’s like a quiet agreement between the two that they will always do anything to save Alec.

And this look on Magnus’ face. The fear that it won’t work, sad resignation that he is not the one that can save Alec this time - dear Hecate, it’s so devastating. As always, Harry is KILLING it!!

The Parabatai Oath

Entreat me not to leave thee

Or return from following after thee

For whither thou goest, I will go

And where thou lodgest, I will lodge.

They people shall be my people, and thy God my God.

Where thou diest, will I die and there will I be buried.

The Angel do so to me, and more also.

If aught but death part thee and me

Jace reciting the Parabatai Oath while he holds the Parabatai stone between him and Alec - while Alec has dream flashbacks of their ceremony is so freaking intense!

And when they thought Alec was gone…

The sadness that envelops Magnus, Izzy, and Clary is devastating. Standing there, silent in their own pain and tears.

Jace holding Alec while he finishes the oath. His own tears. The ‘Please don’t leave me, Alec.’ Is so heart wrenching!

The fact that Dom ad-libbed that line just makes it more so!

Then Alec, softly whispering the last line of the oath back to Jace! OMG!

The hope when they hear Alec whisper that last line of the oath. The way Magnus and Clary clasp hands. The way Izzy clutches her heart. OH! MY! GOD!

The joy on Jace’s face when Alec wakes up. Alec’s brief confusion - so adorable.

Then this - when they realize that Alec is fine, that Jace did save him. The whole scene is so damn emotional.

Dominic, Harry, Emeraude, Kat, and Matt did such a phenomenal job! Especially Dom and Matt! They even bring tears to my eyes. And we all know how hard that is to do.

Leave it to Aldertree to ruin the moment. Because he’s a selfish, jealous ass! Ugh! Poor Jace!

See ya next time for Day of Wrath
