Episode 3 Dead Man’s Party
How do Shadowhunters deal with their drama and still save the day? Oh, just you wait!
The first two episodes taught us that the Shadow World is facing a threat. Episode 3 gives a better look into just what the Shadow World is. And who it's protectors are.
Clary, babe, you are new here! Sit down, shut up, listen to Alec! For the love of the Angel!
Honestly, I have no reason for this shot other than I couldn’t bring myself to delete it during editing. I mean, LOOK AT IT! When I say that I enjoy window shopping in the Men’s section, this is what I mean.
Poor Simon. I know, I am saying that a lot in these first few episodes. But this poor kid. He is really going through it. And *SPOILER ALERT* it’s not going to get any better for him any time soon.
Jace, darlin, you have to understand Alec’s reluctance to trust Clary. So much has happened since she entered the picture. And now, finding out that she’s Valentine’s daughter. Putting his (obvious to everyone but you) jealousy aside, the guy makes some great points. And it’s all too much for him.
“See you at the hunt.”
“At the hunt.”
If I haven’t made it clear, I just love these two. And I am so very intrigued by this Parabatai thing. While I have made the decision to keep my views of the source material separate from these reviews — I have to say that the show does cover the Parabatai thing better than the books. IMO, of course. Feel free to disagree. Respectively, of course.
I love this scene. But I don’t think for the same reasons as most other fans. It’s extremely haunting and beautiful.
“We’re Parabatai. There’s no human bond that compares to what Alec and I have. We’re bound together for life. Bound to fight together, to protect each other. In battle, our hearts beat as one. If one of us were to die, part of the other would die inside, as well.”
Jace’s explanation of his and Alec’s Parabatai Rune is so intense. It’s like the mythological explanation of true love.
Raphael, you can pretend to be cold and mean all you want. But I see you, boo.
I cannot express how much I love that Alec is an Archer! All of my fav vigilantes are. Since I first discovered the Green Arrow when I was 6 years old, I have loved the Archers. Anyone can shoot a gun or wield a blade. It takes a different kind of soul to be able to handle a bow and arrow. And, by the Angel, does it suit Matt so damn well!
Alec usually does such a great job of keeping his feelings inside. But here, in this conversation with Hodge, he lets that slip to show the vulnerability, the fear of not being enough, the certainty that he is not important. Of course, he’s so wrong about all it! But he’ll learn that before this season is done.
Listen Hodge!! Alexander Lightwood stands in no one’s shadow! Not even Jace Wayland’s!! Especially not Jace’s!
Alec! Don’t look like that!! You are just as important as Jace! And you sure as hell are nothing like Hodge!!
However, you do wear that look very well…
This scene is really fun. That’s honestly the only reason it’s here.
I just love when Alec smiles and he needs to do it so much more.
And he will…
I love everything about Alec and Izzy’s time while breaking into the Dumort. From the conversations to the battles, it’s all so well done. Matt and Emeraude nailed it.
“Okay.”
One simple word, yet Alec says it with such flair. And look at the way he holds that bow! And that smile!! Truly Matt is so damn magical!
And look at that little grin. He knows he is going to hit his mark and save the girl. Even if it is a girl that he doesn’t like or trust and blames for the way Jace has been acting. And even though he is gay and would rather save the boy. Unfortunately Magnus is not in this episode.
“I’m older than you Jace. I’m not in your shadow.'“
That’s right!! You tell him, baby!!
That was our first lesson in the Vamps of the Shadow World, What will we discover next?
See ya next time for Raising Hell.
