Episode 4 Day of Wrath

Wrath is the name of the game in this episode and not all of it is under the influence of a demon.

Jace is angry at Clary for not listening. Raphael is angry at Simon for not looking for Camille. Simon is angry at Raphael for not helping. Alec is angry at everyone named Fairchild. Jace is angry with Valentine, but maybe not enough.

And Magnus has to make a decision that leaves him shredded.

Clary, my firecracker, you have to give Jace a minute to adjust his thinking. Before you came along, Jace loved the Lightwoods and that was pretty much it. He didn’t allow other people to get close enough. Nor did he allow emotions in. Telling you to stay away is the only way he knows how to deal with Valentine’s little bomb.

Girl, I adore you, but you really have to stop putting what you want above what others want. For the love of the Angel!

I love this conversation! Alec telling Magnus that he did feel him there, when Magnus was trying to save Alec’s life. And Magnus thanking him for not dying on him.

Could these two be more adorable?!

The way Magnus smiles at Alec, as they plan to finally go on that date.

And the way Alec lights up, even while stuttering as he tries to ask Magnus to go on that date!

Have I mentioned, lately, just how much I love these characters? And the actors?

Again, I am so impressed with Harry and Matt and their dedication to doing the story right!

Magnus - My dear Raj. You look well.

From one petty bitch to another, excellent parting shot, Magnus!

I love this scene between Alec and Clary. There is a lot of sarcasm in the teasing, but the animosity is so much less than it was in the first season. And damn, Alec is funny when he’s not angry and/or brooding.

I don’t know why, but the way Alec says “Hey Fray! We have a demon to hunt. Come on.” always cracks me up.

You know, I’m sitting here watching Izzy wheel in this corpse and stop to talk to Lydia. And all I can think is ‘did someone check that corpse for the demon?’ and ‘I sure hope the Shadowhunters have an anti-possession Rune.’

Sure enough - ala Supernatural - black smoke rises from the corpse and disappears into a vent. And 15 years traveling and hunting demons with Dean and Sam Winchester taught me that this is not going to end well for the Shadowhunters.

I absolutely love the Magnus/Raphael relationship and how Magnus loves him and thinks of him as a son.

Magnus, that big heart of yours is showing, again.

Watching Simon and Raphael bicker like siblings is so fun. And hilarious.

And I love Raphael teaching Simon about Camille and her grave dirt.

Izzy - No one in Idris is going to teach you how to hunt in five inch heels.

Well, Izzy, that’s one way to convince Clary to not go to Idris with her mom

Alec to the rescue! I have been obsessed with vigilante archers since I was 6 years old and got my first Green Arrow comic. All the best vigiliante’s are archers! Green Arrow, Hawkeye, Artemis, Yondu, Alec Lightwood!

“If it weren’t for Camille, I wouldn’t be here, right now.”

Oh Magnus! The way this man can make me want to jump in the tv and hug him!!

And I get it Magnus. I, too, owe my life to a toxic ex. I completely understand your struggle. And I love how open you are being with Simon about it all. And I really REALLY wish we had gotten more Magnus and Simon moments!

“Facilis Desceasus Ad Infernos. The Descent Into Hell Is Easy. Alec and I use it to remind each other we can’t be broken.”

You tell him, Jace!

The look on this mans face as he stares at that box of grave dirt, knowing what he is about to do. What he is about to sacrifice. I almost can’t take it.

I get why Magnus sent Simon and Raphael on the wild goose chase. Because he thinks he has to be the one to turn in Camille. Alone. And OH MY GODS!!

Alec - What did I do?

Well, Alec, you definitely can’t be mad at Clary anymore…

Look at my love! Still banishing Camille. Even if he can’t watch himself do it!

I know this sucks, but you did the right thing, Magnus!

SOMEONE HUG HIM!

Wait! He’s alone! Dammit!

The only good thing about Valentine crashing the City of Bones is that Aldertree is forced to see that Jace is not on Valentine’s side. If only he would have listented before.

This ending is so intense. Ugh! The way Alec looks at Clary, the guilt is eating him alive.

I love that Jace is finally reunited with Alec and Izzy. And out of the prison he should have never been in!

But the way he looks at Clary as she clings to Simon. It’s rough and my heart breaks for Jace.

See you next time for Dust and Shadows.
