Episode 6 Of Men and Angels
Magnus is back - saving lives, repairing brotherhoods, bringing our Shadowhunters back to the same side, and clueing us in to the importance of Virgin Shadowhunter Energy.
The show wastes no time reminding us that our favorite Parabatai are on shaky ground. When Magnus says he needs Alec and Jace asks why and says he doesn’t think he is ready to talk to him is heartbreaking and powerful. The whole mess with Clary has really driven a wedge between these two better than brothers. Proof that the Parabatai Rune cannot defeat lust or stubbornness.
In true Magnus fashion, though, he brings bit of levity to the tension when his ‘Virgin Shadow Energy’ is the reason for wanting Alec there. Cracks me up every damn time.
And then there’s Simon with his perfect one liners. This time it’s the ever golden ‘That explains so much.”
Proof that only Jace is the downer in this particular threesome. And oh gods how I wish we would have gotten more of these three. So entertaining!
I love the relationship that Alec and Izzy have with Max. The age difference could have really caused some problems and definitely could have caused an uncrossable chasm between the two older siblings and their much younger brother. But not the Lightwoods. They love that boy unconditionally. And it is beautiful.
Daddario should ALWAYS be smiling! For the love of the Angel! Someone please tell his rep team to build this into all his future projects.
See his latest movie “Holiday Touchdown” for more examples.
This fight with Simon proves that Jace is not as mad at Alec as he thinks he is. Good to know the Parabatai Rune has not lost all its power. Now, Jace, quit following Clary around like a lost puppy! You know, exactly what you have accused Simon of doing!
This conversation between Maryse and Alec is very sweet. And proves that Maryse is not a terrible mother. Just one that has gotten her priorities messed up. Like I said, last time, there is pain there.
Magnus, you try to play it coy and cool. But I see you and that big soft heart you try to hide.
The passion with which Magnus tells Clary about the past is breathtaking. Harry is so damn good! Like crazy talented!
Listen Robert! Clary is the one that went rogue! And Jace. And Izzy, a little bit. Not Alec! He tried to stop them! Get it right, man. I mean, yeah, Alec went along. But he spent the whole time telling them it was a bad idea.
Magnus telling Clary the story of her parents and of Valentine’s downfall is so powerful. I love their friendship!
Alec has every right to be pissed, Izzy. You and Jace should have listened to him, not Clary!!
OMG! Alec getting to Magnus just as he starts to collapse from using all his magic! The way Alec catches him, the way they look at each other! Magnus asking Alec to help him by sharing his energy and Alec’s ‘Take what you need!’ This scene destroys me every single time!
And their clasped hands!! Oh my heart!!
Very smooth of Harry to try to cover his laughter at Matt’s face when he takes a drink of his cocktail. He failed, but A for effort, my guy!
I love this entire conversation between Magnus and Alec. It’s intense and sweet and exciting. The way they look at each other, Magnus’ complete honesty, Alec’s intrigue and confusion. It’s all so damn beautiful. And so accurate to what first developing feelings for someone can be like.
Harry and Matt sold the hell out of this scene!
And this is one of my fav improv moments! You can tell by Harry’s grin, that he knew doing this was going to be a good move. And he was right.
Daddario couldn’t keep a straight face. And the whole scene is so adorable.
And this is not the last time we will see these two improv on each other.
See you next time for Major Arcana.
